Orientation Session #4: Ready for take off

We just wrapped up our final orientation session for the 2015 Travelers who will head to Tsugaru July 28th.  This session covered trip itineraries in Tsugaru and Tokyo, hotel/ryokan/host family accommodations, Japanese numbers 101 (time, money, counting, metric system etc), Eastern/Western toilets, the basics for using onsens/sento and many more language tips.  The students are psyched to head out in a couple of weeks! Here we come...........!

Meet the 2015 Maine Host Families

Lots of information shared at last night's Host Family Meetup.  We are so fortunate to have 13 families hosting 21 visitors this summer!  Many of our hosts have previously lived or traveled to Japan.  And we have a couple of families who have previously hosted and/or traveled to Tsugaru through this exchange program. Orientation Session #3

The 2015 Travelers met last Saturday @ the Patten Free Library Community Room to dig into more 'trip-specific' information.  Topics included: transportation, religion, omiyage and more language review/practice.  The students are so anxious to embark on this experience! Orientation Sessions

Both travelers and host families will get plenty of help in preparing with our orientation sessions, led by students and faculty from the Bowdoin College Japanese Department. Orientation Session #1: Success!
