New Tsugaru CIR Mike Moses
New Tsugaru CIR Mike Moses

Hi!  My name is Mike Moses, and I’m the Coordinator of International Relations at Tsugaru City Hall.

I graduated in May 2010 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with majors in international studies, Spanish and ethnic studies (minor in Japanese).  During college, I studied abroad in Nagoya and Kyoto, living with a host family, where I developed a strong passion for international exchange.

As the CIR in Tsugaru, I am involved in the planning of the Bath-Tsugaru exchange from the Tsugaru side, including translating, interpreting, and general planning.  Besides the exchange, I carry out various internationalization activities in Tsugaru, such as visiting schools to teach about American culture, planning different events, and providing English support for the international residents of Tsugaru.  I’ve been living in Tsugaru for about eight months, and am enjoying every minute of it.

Looking forward to meeting you this year on the exchange!

Here is a short report Mike prepared on the effects of the Japanese earthquake, tsunami and resulting nuclear emergency:
